Description

Presenting this stunning original, UK-registered, 1973 Alfa Romeo 2000 GTV finished in Blu Posillipo! With a lightweight chassis housing a 130 bhp Nord twin-cam, and wrapped in a stunning exterior styled by Bertone, this Alfa really is the complete package! This superb example, complete with webasto roof, was restored in the late 1990s and has been lovingly looked after throughout its life. The car is in mechanically excellent condition, ready for its next owner!

The Alfa Romeo Tipo 105 was designed by a young Giorgetto Giugiaro working at Bertone. Built from 1963, all cars featured a 5-speed gearbox and disc brakes all round. With excellent handling, Alfa took them racing with the aluminium-bodied ‘GTA’. In 1971, Alfa bored the engine out to 1, 962cc to create the 2000 GTV, with the engine pushing 130 bhp and 134 lb/ ft. Being Alfa’s flagship for a time, the car received updates to the styling, sporting its famed twin headlights and chrome slatted grille.

This lovely and well-maintained example was registered in the UK in June 1973. The chassis number dates to 1972 and is under code ‘150. 22’ associated with RHD/ export markets. With a long list of invoices, the car received a new engine in 1992 to the correct specification. The car underwent a restoration in the late 1990s, as shown by the significant number of invoices from this time. We can be sure the mileage is original and likely displays over 100, 000 miles, although it is not verifiable by the paperwork.

The car went to central/ southern France in 2006, being kept in drier climates, later imported to Jersey in 2014, maintained by Le Riche Automobile Restorers. The car returned to the UK in 2017, being re-registered on its original number plate. In 2018, the car was bought by its current owner and has been lovingly looked after ever since. In 2025, we completed an extensive service and top-end engine rebuild, with the car now mechanically excellent!

Alfa 105s offer a fantastic ownership experience, being great to drive and reliable if maintained well. They were not built with the best quality steel, so corrosion is something to look out for. A good maintenance history is essential when sourcing a quality example.

To drive the car is one of the best-handling Alfas out there! The 2000 GTV’s Nord 1, 962cc twin cam produced torque low down, making it very drivable. The twin Weber carbs give the car its famed intake noise. The long gear shift adds a level of engagement not found outside these cars. The steering has a lovely progressive approach to it, being light and having great feel. The car has lots of grip, and with the lack of weight, it is very agile.

This example is in really great usable condition, and despite a few small chips on the paintwork, it presents well. The car is in great mechanical condition being restored in the 1990s and being very well maintained since. The unitary body chassis is structurally in great condition. The interior is excellent with the wheel, Jaeger clocks, wooden dash trim and gearstick displaying very well. The front seats have recently had new covers and padding and display as new. The radio is period, possibly its original. The 5-speed manual gearbox engages as it should. The car has a double wishbone front suspension, with a fixed solid live axle at the rear and disc brakes all round. The steering box has recently had an overhaul in 2025. The iconic Alfa steel wheels are in restored condition, clad in Yokohama S306s, dated 2016, in good condition.

The car comes with a spare tyre, an outdoor car cover, some spare parts, a jack and a large list of invoices.
