FOR SALE: 1989 TOYOTA FJ62 LAND CRUISER

The younger brother to the 40 Series, the FJ62 was born into a new era of Land Cruisers — bringing with it real advancements in comfort, drivability, and usability. Powered by the 3F engine, it delivers smooth, effortless power, paired with a 5-speed manual and low-range gearing that make it equally at home on the highway or off-road.

Sitting on new suspension and leaf springs, this FJ62 glides along the road far better than earlier models, while still retaining the toughness the Land Cruiser name is built on. The 3F is a favourite among those who’ve driven them — reliable, torquey, and easy to live with.

Having spent its life in rural Australia, it’s been well preserved with no exposure to salt or harsh conditions — resulting in a clean, rust-free example. It’s also been thoughtfully set up for overlanding, with an extended fuel tank, secondary battery, solar setup, 12v outlets, roof rack, and modern touches like Apple CarPlay and Bluetooth.

Licensed as a 6-seater with plenty of room in the rear, it’s a practical classic the whole family can enjoy — whether that’s weekend drives, long trips, or loading it up and heading off-grid.

Always well serviced, the motor runs exactly how it should — smooth, clean, and reliable. No notable faults, no oil leaks, and parts are widely available and affordable, making ownership simple.

This is a two-owner vehicle, and it shows. The paint still really shines, with original decals adding the right amount of patina. The interior has been protected with covers most of its life, and everything underneath — floors, dash, trims, and headliner — remains in excellent original condition. All the original ownership and servicing documents are with the vehicle along with the purchase invoice from Toyota in 1989 and the spec sheet from Japan.

The 40 Series market has already taken off globally, and the 60 Series is following closely behind. Now is the right time to secure a good example.

SELLER’S NOTES
Fairly priced and loaded with the right accessories for someone wanting an adventure-ready Land Cruiser, while still being tidy enough to sit comfortably in a collection.

The driveline is bulletproof, and the 3F engine really makes this one stand out — smooth, capable, and easy to drive. Once behind the wheel, you’ll understand how well these later 60 Series perform compared to earlier models.

The market is already moving, and good, honest examples like this — especially rust-free Australian cars — are getting harder to find. A very usable classic with plenty of upside.

Soon to be available for viewing in Bury St Edmunds.
