ARGUABLY one of the best examples around, this 1969 MG 1300 Mark II is offered for sale by Martin Howey Classics. This superb 60s classic was given a re-furb a couple of years ago and was treated to fully rebuilt and original engine and box as well as anything else that was required (2 new sub frames for example) and painted to a high quality. It may be difficult to find better.
The photo of the engine bay tends to give away the lengths the re-commissioning went to. It looks practically new. The interior is magnificent and she drives like a new car. Speedo reads 69, 000 and she also comes with a new MoT until April 2027.
I really like this model in 2-door form which I think gives it more of a coupe-style look. The previous version - the MG 1100 - came as a 4-door and, for a short while during the crossover, the new 1300 could be ordered in either 2 or 4-door spec.
The 1300 was also given the Riley Kestrel dash which in itself remains an iconic 1960s dashboard. Those three round clocks set into a walnut veneer. The steering wheel was changed from a basic black plastic two spoke affair to the same as that used in the 1300 GT. All in all, this is a classic you would want to keep, cherish and above all drive!
Finished in her original spec of Bermuda Blue with black interior, it's some eyeful of a car.
