The appeal
The MG TD is one of the most sought-after British sports cars of the early 1950s. It combines the traditional charm of the T-series with notable mechanical advances, such as independent front suspension and rack-and-pinion steering. Its 1,250 cc engine and four-speed manual gearbox make it a pleasure to drive, while its classic styling continues to win over enthusiasts.
This 1953 example is an unrestored original car which the seller describes as being in very presentable condition. Painted red with a black interior, it retains its period character while, according to the seller, having benefited from an extensive mechanical overhaul. The brakes and tyres are also said to have been replaced. Registered in France with a collector's carte grise, this TD offers an appealing balance between originality and mechanical upkeep.

✓ VAT is included in the buyer's deposit. VAT may or may not be included in the final offer or bid price, as specified in the listing.
✓ We want the transaction to go smoothly, just as you do, which is why cars and motorcycles registered in the UK and listed on Car & Classic are subject to an HPI check to verify that they carry no insurance database markers for damage or theft and are not subject to a finance lien, so you can bid with confidence.
✓ We also check whether vehicles are recorded as written off following a total loss at the time the listing is placed on Car & Classic, and we provide write-off category labels (Cat C/D/S/N) to help you. However, the presence or absence of a label does not guarantee the vehicle's status, so it is always worthwhile carrying out a full vehicle history check before making an offer.
