Chassis number B106DG. The coachwork is finished in the classic British Pullman colours of cream over brown. It has a tan leather interior and a light tan mohair hood. This extremely sporty Bentley was built for Leslie Hawkins, an English gentleman of some repute being a land owner including the village of Chaslyn Hay in Staffordshire. He also owned a tyre company and brickworks. A well known Bentley and Rolls-Royce enthusiast he was close friends with the Bentley design engineer Roy Rowbottom. Between the two of them they designed this unique drophead coupe coachwork. It is shorter and lighter than a normal Derby and has an integral boot and is very much a drivers car. In 1947 BRE 409 was purchased by his grace The Duke of Grafton who resided at Euston Hall in Thetford, Norfolk. The Bentley was regularly used within the Dukes duties. In more recent years this delightful car has benefitted from a major restoration that included a total body restoration and repaint with interior re-trim plus extensive mechanical re-build and has a very quiet running engine. The car presents extremely well and is a pleasure to behold. It would enhance any serious collection. Advancing years of its current owner of over thirty years has precipitated the decision to part with his dear old chum the Bentley. Sensibly priced to sell
