Description
On offer is this delightful Hillman Super Minx Convertible finished in Pippin Red with a black hood and red trim piped in white. Launched in 1962, the Super Minx Convertible was relatively short lived with production ceasing in June 1964 making it a rare and desirable model.
Previously professionally restored for the then chair of the local Hillman Owners Club, the quality of the workmanship has stood the test of time and the condition of the car remains superb with no evident rust, bright glossy paint and lovely straight bodywork. The interior is in excellent condition for its age and usefully, the car has been fitted with seatbelts. The hood is really easy to erect, in great condition and remained watertight even during recent heavy downpours.
On the road the car performs very well aided by optional overdrive which works on third and fourth gears meaning the car is quite relaxed at higher speeds, the steering is quite light once moving and the gearbox a delight.
There is a thick folder of receipts with the car going back decdes including those from the restoration as well as photos of when is was being prepared for paint etc.
Four seater convertibles are few and far between and have increased in popularity due to the number of social classic car events so this lovely example makes it the ideal choice for family outings! Previously described as the best in existence, we'll let you decide.
