The Appeal
This handsome Coventry Tourer may bear the name of Standard’s home town, but it is a well-travelled vintage. We’re told it was dispatched new to Australia, where it was later extensively restored to take part in the country’s mammoth Bi-Centenary Celebration Rally, with up to 1,500 classics converging on the capital, Canberra.
Standard cars were well regarded for their quality and build, which made them reliable too. As an export model, this 11.4hp V3 was originally fitted with a fan, brake lights and indicators. That older restoration has held up well; the yellow body and wheels are in good order, as is the brown interior.
On return to the UK in 2019, it was professionally renovated, including engine work and radiator overhaul. Still wearing its 1988 Rally plates and in good running order, this is a chance to acquire a practical and much-historied rarity.
