The Appeal
Before car companies bothered about brand heritage and architecture and reach they mostly just got on with the business of engineering stuff. For Ferdinand Porsche, like Ferruccio Lamborghini, that meant anything on four wheels, whether road-going or field-ploughing.
Porsche’s range of tractors, largely produced during the 1950s, is widely regarded as amongst the best and most technologically innovative of the era. This 1957 308-133 is a case in point, notable for its air-cooled three-cylinder diesel engine with an efficient vortex chamber combustion system. Designed for use on medium to large farms and predecessor of the Master series, it can be differentiated from other Porsche models by its single gear lever and 6 bolt rear wheels.
This very smart, well-presented 308-133 benefits from extensive renovation work. We’re told that the matching-numbers engine was overhauled in 2015, together with sandblasting and repainting the body. More recently, it received a new starter, alternator, wiring harness and battery. It features the rare adjustable front axle and rear lift with three PTO shafts. Indicators, high/low beam and hazard lights are fitted. It has been used for shows and is said to run and drive well.
The vendor says:
“A nice example that will only increase in value. Very good investment!!”
