Highlights
- Tidy and usable early 1500 MGA
- Restored in the early 1990s with photographic documentation on file
- Attractive red over tan colour scheme
- Scope to improve or enjoy it as it is
The Appeal
The early MGAs retained the neat details, most obviously the rear lights, that were part of Syd Enever’s aerodynamic sports car, which represented a ‘scorched earth’ departure from the firm’s previous ‘sit up and beg’ two seaters.
This 1958 A is fitted with the 1500cc engine and retains those period features. It appears to be one of the ‘CKD’ knock down kit’ cars, an original RHD car that returned to the UK in 1990. It retains its correct factory red paint scheme.
We are told that the car was extensively restored in the early 1990s. It has been little used since and now carries a gentle patina across the paintwork that could either be lived with or improved. The chromework is in similar condition while the tan cabin is well preserved. There is also a removable roof including side screens.
The MGA is a doyen of the classic scene, and looking at this pretty car it is easy to see why. With parts supply and specialists readily available, the buyer can enjoy it ‘as is’ or there is scope to add value.
