The Appeal
The OSI-Ford Coupé occupies a fascinating niche in automotive history as a limited-production European GT that married elegant Italian coachwork with dependable Ford mechanicals. Commissioned by Ford of Europe and built by the Turin-based Officine Stampaggi Industriali between 1967 and 1968, it was intended to bridge a gap in Ford's lineup with a stylish, Italian-designed car before the launch of the Capri. Designed by Sergio Sartorelli, whose portfolio includes the striking Volkswagen Karmann Ghia Type 34, the OSI received grand touring proportions and sleek lines that set it apart from Ford's mainstream offerings, whilst offering practical four-seat accommodation and a usable boot.
With only 2,200 units built before OSI's bankruptcy, and perhaps only a few hundred surviving worldwide, the OSI Ford is exceptionally rare. This 1969 example is fitted with the desirable 2.3-litre V6 engine, of which only around 409 were imported into West Germany, and benefits from matching numbers, adding to its appeal for collectors. Originally delivered new in Germany and imported to the Netherlands in 2013, it comes with Dutch registration documents and presents an opportunity to acquire a truly unusual piece of European automotive history.
The car is finished in silver metallic with a leather interior and features period-correct details, including chrome bumpers, mirrors, and exhaust tip, along with a wooden steering wheel.
