The Appeal
The Opel GT is one of the most striking sports cars of its era. a compact, curvy coupé that punched well above its weight. Originally a styling exercise that premiered in 1965, the curvy features, roll-up headlights and impressive performance made for a very beguiling prospect, and by 1968 it had hit the showrooms, with just a little over 100,000 built. It's become quite the exotic rarity.
Rarer still are those bearing the Conrero name, the celebrated Italian tuner renowned for extracting greater performance from production engines. Finding a Conrero-specification GT 1900 is a genuinely uncommon event, and this 1970 example presents a compelling opportunity.
Finished in Rosso over a Nero interior, this car retains its original Italian number plates and has been garage-kept throughout its life. The Conrero provenance is confirmed by the branded enlarged inlet manifold — noted by the vendor as the definitive authenticating component. Purchased by the current owner in 2024, the car has since undergone a thorough mechanical and interior overhaul, and is reportedly ready and waiting for its lucky new owner.DSC00584-Modifica.jpg7.16 MB
