The Appeal
While other manufacturers were crafting their heavy, rugged off‑roaders, Suzuki and its Spanish subsidiary Land Rover Santana knew there was another way to get from point A to point B when the roads were impassable. The Samurai, light and agile, relied on lightness and agility to tackle any terrain. As millions of buyers have discovered, it was a winning formula, offering a cheaper alternative to its big rivals. The Samurai remains popular with anyone facing challenging roads and terrain.
This 1988 SJ413 is one of the Spanish models assembled by Santana. As a later evolution, it features revised styling and a modernised dashboard, as well as a more powerful 1.3 L engine and a five-speed gearbox.
It seems to have benefited from upgrades, the paint appearing recent and in good condition. The brown synthetic leather interior is likewise in good order. We can’t confirm, but buyers can form their own opinion from the photos. It also features a few useful upgrades – the suspension has been lifted, the bumpers modified for sturdier tubular elements and the interior reinforced with a bolted safety roll cage.
