The Appeal
Introduced in 1995 as the successor to the Cavalier, the Vauxhall Vectra brought softer, more aerodynamic styling and a broader, more modern feel to the marque’s family-car range. While most examples led unremarkable everyday lives, sporting versions such as the SRi added a sharper edge and have become increasingly uncommon as survival numbers have thinned.
This 1997 Vectra SRi has been taken considerably further, having been modified into GSi-style specification and comprehensively upgraded by Courtenay Sport. The work includes significant engine upgrades, a bespoke exhaust, lightweight flywheel and uprated clutch, with the car subsequently dyno-tested at 222bhp. As a result, it offers a level of performance well beyond that of a standard Vectra of the period.
For Vauxhall enthusiasts, its appeal lies in that combination of rarity, period tuning and preserved sporting character. Recent attention during the seller’s ownership has included a service, cambelt change and replacement of various minor parts, leaving this modified Vectra ready for its next owner to enjoy as a distinctive and increasingly unusual example of 1990s British-market performance saloon culture. image.png1.36 MB
