The Appeal
The Bimota SB8RS is among the rarest and most focused Italian superbikes of the late 1990s. Produced in a tiny subset of the already limited 150-unit SB8R run, the RS variant added exposed carbon-fibre bodywork, gold-anodised accents, and a host of track-oriented upgrades to a machine that already combined a reworked Suzuki TL1000R V-twin with Bimota's innovative aluminium and carbon-fibre composite chassis. With Bimota's subsequent bankruptcy halting production, surviving examples in original specification are very scarce.
This 1999 example shows a reported 1,224 km on the odometer and is described by the vendor as being in museum-grade condition. It is said to retain its original paint, carbon bodywork, and all OEM hardware, with the vendor citing razor-sharp fastener edges and as-new underside components as evidence of its minimal use.
Mechanically, the vendor reports the bike has been started and heat-cycled regularly. Imported from Italy and re-registered in the UK in 2016, it presents a rare opportunity to acquire one of Bimota's most celebrated models in well-preserved, reportedly stock form.
