Description
I found this fabulous Citroen H van in a barn in the South of France last year. It had not run for many years but I just fell in love with its patina!
It was a period service van for a Citroen dealer, and features a towing jib (that can be removed) sticking out at the rear. Inside are a large number of lovely perid stickers that were obviously placed there by the mechanics.
I had it transported back from France and firstly had the brakes rebuilt. The engine had a holed piston, so a new engine was built (regardless of cost) by Citroen Classics in Chertsey, which included new pistons, balanced, machined head, rebuilt water pump, new radiator, battery etc, etc.
The underside was perfect so was steam cleaned and totally wax-oiled.
I have invoices for over £5000 for the work done. The van is newly MOT tested and has been registered in the UK.
The rest of the body is very sound (as the early H vans tend to be) and I wanted it to keep its 'lived in' looks.
This van gets amazingly enthusiastic reaction as you drive around, with people literally taking pictures of it as you drive!
Very reluctantly for sale as I have just embarked on two more restorations and I need space.
