Description

Chassis no. 2344 was ordered new from De Tomaso by Ford USA in 1972. This lightweight group 4 racing Pantera was just one of 14 built and destined for Warren Tope; the son of Donald Tope then Vice-President of Ford’s Powertrain Operations. Group 4 Panteras had lightened chassis, twin fuel tanks with Monza style caps, pop riveted on wheel arches, bundle-of-snakes exhaust systems, plexiglass windows as well as other modifications.

Warren raced the Pantera extensively in Trans-Am races during ’73 and continued in '74 but tragically lost his life driving a McLaren that same year. Residing in American collections for over 30 years the car has now been restored back to its ’73 specifications carrying the distinctive no. 31 and red, white, blue livery of Tope Racing Enterprises. Offered for sale on the button for road use and could be put back on the race track. As a track car it would be eligible for the Le Mans Classic, Classic Endurance Series, Tour Auto.
