The Appeal

For serious E-Type collectors, the earlier the car the better. Jaguar geared up production for low volume and was taken aback by demand, so it swiftly introduced changes to simplify production. Later cars increasingly lost certain detail features that purists revere.

Collectively known as ‘flat floor’ cars for obvious reasons, just 175 of these earliest cars were built in RHD as fixed head coupes. This is car 110 and is said to still be matching numbers across chassis, engine and gearbox. It has been in the hands of the current keeper since 1983.

Originally finished in Opalescent Dark Blue, a restoration began but was never completed. The car is offered as a project and is incomplete and not running. The distinctive registration plate is included. For the right buyer, this car’s provenance and matching-numbers status will be a strong selling point.
