The appeal
What’s the most legendary American car? The answer is almost a given: the Ford Mustang. With it came the birth of the “pony car” concept—an approachable, sporty stance, taut lines, a confident character and mechanicals that are distinctly American. This cabriolet version captures the model’s early years, featuring its iconic styling and a particularly rare colour combination: Sauterne Gold Metallic with black interior.
Offered in its original, unrestored condition, this Mustang has been in the hands of its current owner since early 2017 and has always been stored indoors, sheltered in a garage. The body and interior show patina and age-appropriate wear, but overall it tells more of a well-kept car than one that’s been left to languish.
With a roadworthy inspection still valid for several years, this Mustang makes an interesting prospect for an enthusiast after a genuine car: it can either be kept as-is, or used as a foundation for a gradual restoration to bring it right back to its full glory.image.png1.49 MB

BEFORE YOU BUY
This sale is subject to the Car & Classic general terms and conditions. By bidding and/or making an offer, you also accept the following:
✓ The seller is registered as a private seller, which means that consumer rights arising from European Union consumer protection legislation do not apply. However, you are still covered by the Car & Classic general terms and conditions.
✓ We require that non-refundable fees are paid if you are the successful bidder in the auction or if your offer is accepted. Please refer to our FAQs and general terms and conditions for the specific fee amounts.
✓ This vehicle is “sold as seen”, on a “as is, where is” basis and without warranty. The photos and descriptions are provided for guidance only, and it’s standard practice to carry out a full vehicle inspection before purchase for your own peace of mind.
✓ VAT is included in the buyer’s deposit. VAT may or may not be included in the final price of the bid or submission, as specified in the listing.
✓ We want to make sure the transaction runs smoothly—just like you—and that’s why vehicles and motorcycles registered in the UK and listed for sale on Car & Classic are subject to a HPI check to verify they have no basic database markers for insurance damage or theft, and that they are not subject to any financial charge, allowing you to bid with confidence.
✓ We also check whether vehicles are recorded as being scrapped as part of a total loss claim at the time the listing is placed on Car & Classic, and we provide category labels for scrappage (Cat C/D/S/N) to help. However, the presence or absence of a label does not guarantee the vehicle’s status, and it’s still useful to carry out a full vehicle history check before making an offer.
✓ Buyers are responsible for collection or delivery of the vehicle. Importing vehicles may involve additional customs duties and import taxes. If you want, we can recommend a third-party shipping company to help. For more details and to speak with the team, email auctions@carandclassic.com.
