The appeal
What’s the most legendary American car? The answer is almost obvious: the Ford Mustang. It’s with this model that the “pony car” concept was born—a sporty, accessible shape; taut lines; a confident character; and typically American mechanicals. This cabriolet version captures the model’s early years, with its iconic styling and an especially rare colour combination: Sauterne Gold Metallic with black interior.
Offered in its original, un-restored condition, this Mustang has been in the hands of its current owner since the start of 2017 and has always been stored away safely in a garage. The bodywork and cabin show patina and wear consistent with the age of the car, but overall it’s clear the car has been looked after rather than left to deteriorate.
With an MOT still valid for several years, this Mustang is an interesting prospect for an enthusiast after a genuine car. It can either be kept exactly as it is, or used as the basis for a gradual refurbishment to bring it back to its full potential.image.png1.49 MB

✓ The seller is registered as a private seller, which means that consumer rights arising from European consumer protection legislation do not apply. However, you are still covered by Car & Classic’s general terms and conditions.
✓ We require that non-refundable fees are paid if you are the successful bidder or if your offer is accepted. Please refer to our FAQs and general terms and conditions for the specific charges.
✓ This vehicle is “sold as seen”, on a “take it or leave it” basis and without any warranty. The photos and descriptions are provided for guidance only and it is customary to carry out a complete inspection of the vehicle prior to purchase for your own peace of mind.
✓ VAT is included in the buyer’s deposit. VAT may or may not be included in the final price of the offer or submission, as specified in the listing.
✓ We want to make sure the transaction goes smoothly for you, just as we do for ourselves, and that’s why UK-registered cars and motorcycles listed on Car & Classic are subject to an HPI check to verify that they have no basic insurance database markers for damage or theft, and that they are not subject to a financial charge—so you can bid with confidence.
✓ We also check whether vehicles are recorded as being written off following a total loss claim at the time the listing is posted on Car & Classic, and we provide write-off category labels (Cat C/D/S/N) to help you. However, the presence or absence of a label does not guarantee the vehicle’s status and it’s still worth carrying out a full vehicle history check before making an offer.
✓ Buyers are responsible for collection or delivery of the vehicle. The import of vehicles may result in additional customs duties and import taxes. If you’d like, we can recommend a third-party shipping company that can help. For more details and to speak with the team, email auctions@carandclassic.com.
