The Appeal
Nights are drawing in, leaves are falling from the trees, and it's time to find yourself a project car to while away the cold winter evenings. This MG Midget is just the ticket: a sensibly modified hill climb/sprint/fast road car with tons of potential.
Few classic cars offer the pure, uncomplicated driving pleasure of an MG Midget. Compact, lightweight and endlessly characterful, the Midget has earned its place as one of the most accessible and enjoyable British sports cars to own and drive.
As the photographs attest, this example shows its age in places, and the vendor adds that it would benefit from some recommissioning work. It does run, drive and stop, offering an excellent starting point for DIY mechanics or as the basis for a more ambitious restoration project.
The car really stands out with its Old English White paintwork, racing livery and Navy Blue soft-top. It comes with an extensive file of invoices from well-known MG specialists, including Frontline Developments, Moss Bristol and MGOC Spares, documenting a range of mechanical and bodywork improvements carried out over several years. The cylinder head has been professionally machined, a stainless steel sports exhaust and copper head gasket have been fitted, and the rear suspension was upgraded with a kit from Frontline Developments.
Inside, the cockpit presents well with blue carpeting, a metal and wood MG steering wheel and polished alloy window handles. Some bodywork and soft-top areas would benefit from attention, a car cover is included.image.png1.27 MB
