The appeal
The BMW E24 633 CSi is among the iconic grand tourers of the 1970s. The first examples, hand-assembled at Karmann, feature certain characteristics sought after by collectors. Presented in a rare Fjord Blue Metallic 037 with a leather and velour interior specific to this configuration, this Phase 1 example is said by the seller to be one of fewer than 500 produced in this combination between 1976 and 1978.
After around 30 years in dry garage storage, this 633 CSi was returned to service rather than restored, thereby retaining a presentation consistent with its history. The current owner, described as the third registered owner, has renewed the fuel system, fitted a new clutch, serviced the braking system and replaced all the fluids. A compression test is said to have confirmed the good condition of the 3.2-litre M30B32 straight-six engine.
The bodywork shows signs of wear consistent with its age, including some paint chips, minor knocks and slight lifting of the lacquer in places. Significant corrosion is, however, not reported. Originally delivered to the Swiss market, as evidenced notably by its white headlights, it is now registered in France.image.png1.57 MB
