This lot is part of The Blaauwbank Collection, an eclectic mix of vehicles spanning nearly a century of motoring. The collection showcases everything from practical classics to high-end collector cars, all carefully curated and stored in purpose-built, climate-controlled storage hangars in Central South Africa's arid climate. For overseas buyers, this is an opportunity to acquire classic cars that have never been exposed to salted roads and the damp European climate.

The Appeal
French carmakers have seldom done things the easy way. That's why we love them. The Citroën GS was undoubtedly one of the most technically innovative family cars of the 1970s, combining an air-cooled flat-four engine with hydropneumatic suspension and sleek aerodynamic styling. The X2 Le Mans is among the rarest variants: a limited edition produced for the South African market, distinguished by bespoke cosmetic and mechanical enhancements including performance camshafts, a specially jetted carburettor, quad headlamps, a boot spoiler, Perana louvre and distinctive black side striping.
This example is reported to have spent its entire life in the dry interior of South Africa. Finished in Silver Metallic over a White sports interior, it has had just one former registered keeper, described by the vendor as an elderly woman. The hydropneumatic system is said to work reliably across all three selector settings, recent expenditure has been undertaken, and it rides on good Michelin tyres. For the discerning Citroën enthusiast seeking a preserved, rare and right-hand drive GS, this Le Mans edition is well worth closer inspection.IMG_2713 Noel Grove.jpeg6.67 MB
