The Appeal
The dry sump version of the Lotus Esprit Turbo is among the rarest variants of this iconic mid-engined sports car. With just 143 built, the dry sump spec was developed for better oil management under sustained high-performance driving, making it a particularly sought-after model.
This 1981 example presents a notable project opportunity. The engine is believed to have stuck piston rings and will need to be pulled and attended to, possibly requiring more than just new rings, but the seller describes this as a straightforward job for a capable mechanic. The car has been off the road since 2009, so a trailer will be required for collection.
As the photos show, the car is very well preserved, highly complete and commendably original. It has clearly been well stored, leaving scope for a sympathetic recommission if the new owner doesn't want to restore it beyond sorting the mechanical issues. image.png4.75 MB
