The Appeal
The early Silver Spirit tends to be the choice of enthusiasts who value the simplicity of its carburettor set up and less complex suspension. It lends itself to self-maintenance or servicing outside the specialist network, which likely explains why the vendor’s father chose this car in 2004. A marque collector and capable motor mechanic, he undertook all the servicing and maintenance himself.
The car is a testament to his care and attention and careful storage. We’re told that he only ever used it on dry days and even in later years continued to start it and wash it weekly. The silver bodywork checks out well in the usual Silver Spirit areas, and the smart red leather cabin is nicely preserved. Both can be costly to fix, but here they appear to be in good order.
With only four keepers from new and in nice, lightly aged condition, this is a chance to acquire a clearly cherished Rolls-Royce.
The vendor says:
“This is a bereavement sale of my father's car. He had a lot of these and Silver Shadows. He used to visit me regularly in it, an hour's motorway journey with no problems. I know he used to get a lot of joy out of tinkering with it, and I hope it can go to somebody who will enjoy it for more years to come.”
