Highlights
- One former registered keeper prior to family family ownership in mid-1987
- Factory standard with no modifications
- Recent work by a Mercedes specialist including sill repair, four new tyres, and suspension components
- Service booklet and documented invoices from Mercedes garages and specialists
The Appeal
The R107 took Mercedes-Benz's familiar roadsters into a new generation. Boxy, shapely sort of machines that boasted big proportions, handsome executive trims and strong powerplants, all built into remarkably rugged, highly engineered cars that were capable of comfortably munching up the miles. It's of little wonder that we're so attracted to them. They're endlessly enduring in both appeal and solidity.
This example has been in the same family since mid-1987 - a span of approximately 39 years - with one prior keeper and has been garaged for much of that existence. Lightly driven from 2003 onwards, it has covered just under 103,000 miles. A service booklet stamped through 2004 is accompanied by documented invoices at regular intervals thereafter, mostly from Mercedes main dealers or specialists. It's also accompanied by an MOT until March 2027.

Hi, I’m seriously considering bidding on the 300 SL and just wanted to clarify a few things before I do. 1. Can you confirm the full MOT history/mileage is genuine and that there are no mileage discrepancies? 2. Regarding the offside front suspension mounting, what exactly was repaired and when? Was there any welding involved, and do you have photos/invoices of the repair before it was undersealed? 3. How extensive is the corrosion to the inner wing, shock absorber area and sills? Has the car had any other welding or structural repairs previously? 4. Is there any corrosion underneath the car, around the jacking points, floor pans, boot floor or chassis rails? 5. You mention an oil leak — where is the leak coming from and how significant is it? 6. Has the engine, gearbox or differential ever been rebuilt or had major work?
