The Appeal
Today, Sports Utility Vehicles (SUVs) are all the rage, but they weren't nearly so numerous at the turn of the 21st century when this Jeep Cherokee rolled off the historic Toledo production line. The XJ-generation Cherokee was an excellent off-roader, but what truly distinguished it from most of its rivals was how good it was on the road too. Here was a car you could drive every day and still conquer the most arduous of trails should the mood take you.
This 2.5-litre petrol variant paired with a five-speed manual gearbox represents one of the rarest configurations to find. As XJ numbers dwindle on British roads, well-maintained examples are becoming ever more sought after by enthusiasts.
This Steel Blue metallic example was first registered in 2000, originally supplied by Beechdale Jeep in Nottingham, and has had four former registered keepers. It benefits from 11 main dealer service stamps and a long MOT. With the handbook pack, two keys and a well-documented history, this Cherokee XJ is well worth a closer look for fans of this increasingly collectable model.image.png1.63 MB

Hi there, Before I place my bid,
I just had three quick questions:
The underbody photos look good for its age, but could you confirm that the chassis rails, sills, and floorboards are structurally solid with no rust holes or soft spots?
The recent MOT notes three advisories for minor leaks—could you let me know roughly where those fluids are weeping from?
What is the current condition/age of the tyres, and is there any noticeable sagging in the rear suspension leaf springs?
Thanks so much for your time.

Hi there,
Thanks for your message.
I can confirm that the chassis rails, sills, and floorboards are all structurally solid with no rust holes or soft spots.
The tyres are a few years old now, but the vehicle has covered very few miles over the last several years, so they have seen limited use.
We haven’t noticed any sagging in the rear suspension or leaf springs.
Regarding the MOT advisories, the front and rear differentials both have slight oil leaks, and there is also a minor engine oil leak. None of these leaks are excessive.
Kind regards
