The Appeal
Land Rover may still make the Defender, but many who love the utilitarian original continue to mourn its passing, 10 years on from the last ones leaving the Solihull lines. Here is a chance to rectify that with a 2014 90 XS County that is, essentially, a brand new example.
That’s because it has covered just 469 miles from new in the hands of the current keeper who bought it when it was two weeks old. That limited use and permanent garaging explains why the Montalcino Red paintwork, with its silver roof and trim, and the black leather interior, look virtually untouched since the day they left the showroom.
Power comes from the Ford Duratorq 2.2L ‘Puma’ engine, delivered via an aftermarket automatic gearbox. We’re told the supplying dealer first serviced it. The MOT has expired but the last test in April 2022 showed no advisories. The vendor tells us that he has deliberately not renewed the MOT to avoid putting more miles on it. With only 60 miles covered in the intervening years, renewing it ought to be straightforward. For collectors and enthusiasts seeking a well-preserved late-production Defender 90, this example is well worth a closer look.
The vendor says:
“First service by main dealer; running gear as new. Drives as new, great colour silver roof, Montalico red bodywork as new.”
