The Appeal
The idea of the Egli-Vincent began with legendary French master builder Patrick Godet. Widely recognised as a world authority on Vincent motorcycles, this builder, restorer and rider designed a modern recreation of the incredible Egli-Vincent.
Only 100 original motorcycles were built between 1967 and 1972. They were designed by Swiss Fritz Egli as a way to improve the Vincent Black Shadow. As quick as these original superbikes were in a straight line, they suffered from a lack of rigidity in corners. Egli's ultra-rigid frame solved this problem.
Godet obtained Egli's blessing to recreate the motorcycle. Each was equipped with a Black Shadow engine bored out to 1,330 cc producing 100 bhp and, of course, the Egli frame. The level of detail distinguishes these motorcycles from other recreations, as you can see in the photos. Godet hand-built 250 examples over 25 years, from the early 1990s to 2018. The seller tells us he purchased this one in 2014 and has owned it since. This is the Sport GT model, fitted with a two-up seat. It has covered only 33,073 kilometres and has always been maintained and serviced by Godet. We're told it retains its original numbers.
As you can see from the photos, the condition is impressive. Apart from a few inevitable heat marks on the chrome exhaust pipes, it appears barely used.
Finished in black and registered under the French classic vehicle scheme, this Egli-Vincent represents a rare opportunity to acquire a well-documented example maintained by a recognised specialist in Franco-Swiss motorcycle craftsmanship.
The Seller States:
"A true enthusiast of this exceptional and unique motorcycle marque. Designed by Vincent and assembled by Godet, it's a masterpiece. Very good! Excellent handling, particularly through long corners. Reverse gear selector on the right side."
