It may not look like a technological marvel, but the Citroën 2CV left a profound mark on automotive history from its launch. Thanks to its ingenious long-travel suspension system, remarkable simplicity and practical qualities, it proved perfectly suited to a war-ravaged Europe eager to get back on the road.
 
It's hardly surprising, then, that it became one of the most iconic and popular cars in history, with over four decades of production and a single generation that evolved significantly over the years.
 
With its 425cc air-cooled engine, suicide doors, manual starting mechanism and four-speed gearbox, the AZ offers a particularly straightforward and authentic driving experience, far removed from anything modern motorcars have to offer. Enthusiasts continue to find it possesses an evocative and irresistible charm.
 
This particular example has remained in the same family since the 1960s, having originally been purchased from a doctor at a time when motorcars were still relatively rare and difficult to obtain.
 
The car was comprehensively restored approximately ten years ago, with photographic documentation covering the various stages of the work. It's presented in a rare beige colour and benefits from a period-correct domed boot, fitted to increase load capacity.
 
Since its restoration, it's been kept garaged and used only for the occasional Sunday run. Recently prepared for sale, it's ready to take to the road and comes with a selection of original accessories and spare parts.
