Model history
The Triumph TR3, produced from 1955 to 1962, is an iconic post‑war British roadster. Evolving from the TR2, it retains its classic styling but gains performance thanks to a 2. 0-litre four-cylinder engine and the progressive adoption of front disc brakes, a major advance for the era. Highly regarded in the United States and successfully raced in competitions (rallies, endurance events), the TR3 earned a reputation as a sporty, robust, and affordable car. It was replaced in 1961 by the Triumph TR4, with a more modern design.
The Triumph TR3A, offered for sale here, is a 1960 model (built from 1957 to 1961). It is the facelifted version of the TR3. It retains the same mechanical basis with a 100 bhp engine, a displacement of 1, 991 cc and a four-speed manual gearbox, but adopts a more civilised style: widened grille, external door handles, a boot with external opening, and improved finishes. Still equipped with front disc brakes, the TR3A remains a robust and capable sports car, very popular in the United States.
