The Appeal
Gandini’s Stratos Zero had to be bold because Bertone was desperate to work with Lancia. Born from a crashed Fulvia wrapped in jaw-dropping wedge styling, it achieved its aim and evolved into one of the greatest road and rally cars ever built: the Stratos.
Only 492 Stratos were built, and to buy one now you need deep pockets of at least £500,000. Thankfully, Hawk Cars provides a solution for enthusiasts in the form of the HF3000. Carefully detailed, dimensionally accurate, and highly regarded, these replicas are barely discernible from the original when done well.
This fabulous 2012 Giallo HF3000 proves it. Built to ‘Stradale’ road-going spec, with a generously trimmed Alcantara interior, it features Giuseppe Busso’s ‘violin of Arese ’, which is Alfa’s equivalent of the Dino V6 in the original. The car has covered just 1,530 miles since it was built in 2012 and has been with its current and third collector-keeper since 2019.
The specification is exactly what you'd hope for from one of these cars. Outside, the paintwork is nicely detailed with correct logos and badges, accented by a set of white Campagnolo alloys. Inside is where a good Hawk can stand head and shoulders over a not-so-good one. That’s all about the detailing, something that this beautifully trimmed car gets right. There is Alcantara everywhere, from dash to seats to carpets, and it features period VDO dials and classic switchgear. Thanks to the sparing use, it looks much like new.
The car was last serviced at 1,490 miles in 2025 and has recently had the clutch system attended to. The MOT runs to July 2027 with no advisories. For those seeking a lightweight, characterful machine that channels the spirit of one of rallying's greatest legends, this Hawk Stratos warrants close attention.

There are few signs of use as you would expect of such a low-mileage car.

It’s no substitute - designer Giuseppe Busso was an ex-Ferrari engineer, and his engine is widely regarded as one of the greatest of the petrol-powered era.

Recent work has covered the clutch system and hoses. It was serviced 40 miles ago. The current MOT contains no advisories and runs to July 2027.
