Description
This beautifully presented Rover P4 100 comes to us in wonderful condition from a small collection of cars based in North Yorkshire. Registered new on 18th January 1961, 254 UYJ features the smooth 2625cc six-cylinder engine coupled with a desirable 4-speed manual gearbox. Having covered around 10, 000 miles over the last ten years, this classic British saloon has been in regular, careful use and has clearly been a cherished, well looked after classic.
Visually, the car is a credit to its previous custodians. The striking two-tone Black and Maroon paintwork holds a lovely finish overall, accentuating the classic, stately lines of the iconic 'Auntie' Rover design. It is clear from a simple walkaround that the car has been the subject of a very impressive restoration in its recent past. Step inside, and the interior is a true delight having benefited from a comprehensive professional retrim in 2016. The cabin perfectly retains its period luxury and charm, and the engine bay is equally well presented reflecting the high standard of maintenance this car has received.
Mechanically, this P4 100 is excellent and has been subject to significant, high-quality investment. In 2016, the carburetor was fully rebuilt, and more recently in 2020, the engine was treated to an extensive overhaul. This included a full engine gasket set, a new cylinder head gasket for the skimmed cylinder head, new conrod bearings, and a fresh clutch kit. To ensure perfect running, the distributor was also completely rebuilt by the renowned 'Dizzy Doctor'. Crucially, this example has been thoughtfully upgraded with power-assisted steering, which makes it absolutely lovely on the open road and incredibly manageable when maneuvering. Driving superbly, this is a highly usable, beautifully sorted classic that is ready for immediate enjoyment, local shows, or long-distance touring as the previous owners have.
