We are very pleased to offer this very early Series 1 E-Type Fixed Head Coupé, a genuine UK-supplied, right-hand-drive example from new. First despatched to Jaguar Distributors of Leeds, 881 AUM was specified in Opalescent Silver Blue with Dark Blue leather, to be supplied in the first week of March 1962 to fabric wholesalers James Hare Ltd. of Leeds.
Restored in the early 1990s, the E-Type has been with its current family (father then son) owners for a number of years, being enjoyed occasionally on the road before more recently being dry stored and driven sparingly. Having been restored some years ago, the Opalescent Silver Blue paintwork, although still attractive, would benefit from minor attention in places to make it perfect. The retrimmed tan interior is in general good order, with minor signs of wear commensurate with age. When viewed ahead of the auction the engine started easily and ran nicely with no obvious issues. A running and driving example, this early E-Type offers its new owner the opportunity to enjoy a celebrated British sports car which can be further cosmetically improved as and when desired.
The Jaguar is supplied with a file containing UK V5c, JDHT Certificate, an invoice for the engine rebuild, photographs during its previous restoration, and a current MoT certificate valid to May 2027. A great chance to acquire an early Series 1 at an eminently accessible price.
