Description
1930 Austin Seven RK Saloon – 50 Year Barn Find – – £4, 995
A wonderful and remarkably complete 1930 Austin Seven RK Saloon, recently unearthed after approximately 50 years in storage.
Offered exactly as found as a straightforward recommissioning project and priced for a quick sale.
This is a very solid old Austin with absolutely fabulous genuine patina – the sort of appearance that simply cannot be recreated. In my opinion it would be a great shame to restore it cosmetically. Get it mechanically sorted, preserve it and enjoy it exactly as it is.
The car is remarkably complete and we have had it running from a separate fuel can and it sounds encouraging. A compression test has also been carried out and new head gasket as we pulled the head to check the bores which seem fine
Work already completed includes:
• Engine compression tested and head gasket
• Engine running from separate fuel supply
• Fuel tank removed/ cleaned
• Front axle professionally rebuilt
• New kingpins and bushes
• £440 spent with JSB Engineering on the axle
• Doors have previously been rebuilt
• Very solid and remarkably complete car
• Wonderful 50-year barn-find patina
• Wire wheels and spare
• Original-style interior/ seats present
• Registration WM 5040
It will obviously require recommissioning before road use. Brakes, fuel system, electrics and the usual mechanical items associated with a car that has been stored for decades should all be checked through.
Missing rear lights and number plate brackets also front dampers , all easily sourced from one of a multitude of specialist suppliers
This isn’t being advertised as a road-ready car. It’s an honest, largely complete 96-year-old Austin that has survived remarkably well and now needs someone to finish waking it up.
I think it represents a great opportunity to acquire a genuine 1930 RK without paying restored-car money.
Viewing welcome and recommended.
