The Appeal
The RMA was one of the first new post-war cars and among the last of a certain type of traditionally built, wood-framed cars before modern mass-production techniques really kicked in. It also reminds us how stylish, beautifully engineered, and well-built Riley's saloon cars were.
This 1952 began life in classic maroon but, following a 1980s renovation, it now sports a more commercially versatile white with matching wheels and a well-kept black vinyl roof. It benefits from a significant programme of recent mechanical work, as outlined in The Detail below. Work has included a head skim and new gasket, replacement water jacket and various new fittings to improve reliability.
The vendor describes it as a good runner and reports that the bodywork is solid underneath with consistent door gaps. A history file accompanies the car, including the original buff log book and various tax discs. With a new car prompting the sale, this is an opportunity to take on a well-maintained example of a charming British classic with commercial potential.
