When you think of archetypal classic cars, the Citroën DS is definitely always one of them. This technological marvel, unveiled in 1955, boasts a design that seems to be from another world. Everyone knows the ‘Goddess’ and everyone smiles when they see her! This car is an absolute crowd-pleaser.
The DS was produced for a staggering 20 years and was constantly refined during that time – even though it remained essentially the same at its core.
Our DS 20 was delivered to a French customer in the summer of 1970 and therefore benefits from the more modern engines fitted from 1965 onwards.
In the early 1990s, the Citroën was then imported into Germany. Since then, it has had four owners – two of whom each owned it for well over 10 years.
The current owner acquired the DS in 2023 and has driven the car a good 10, 000 kilometres since then.
He has also looked after his ‘goddess’ exceptionally well and invested a good €10, 000 in mechanical work – particularly in the brakes, clutch, water pump, ignition lock, tyres, etc. There is therefore no backlog of maintenance.
The car may have been upgraded whilst still in France with various parts that form part of the Pallas specification. These include, in particular, the chrome handle and the chrome strip on the bonnet, the side trim strips and the leather upholstery. The DS also features cornering lights, which were still an optional extra in France at the time.
The red paintwork contrasts beautifully with the black interior, emphasising the car’s aerodynamic lines particularly well and, incidentally, giving the car a cheerful, friendly appearance.
All in all, it’s an everyday car that’s ready for use at any time, and the current owner has placed great importance on its practicality. But of course, it’s also ideal for a Sunday drive with family or friends.
