1998 Volvo 940 Celebration Estate 2. 3 Low Pressure Turbo Petrol Manual Estate – Ex-Listers Demonstrator* – Around 18 Years in One Family Ownership – Extensive History
History
Said to have originally been a demonstration vehicle for Listers Volvo in Coventry, it still wears its original Listers number plates. It was then owned for 18 years (approx.) by 1 family at a historic country house in Malvern (see pic of house and car), and the original 2002 insurance letter from when they bought it is still with the car. It has had 3 owners before me.
It was recommissioned around 2021/ 2022 by the owner of a vehicle inspection business I bought it from, and I've continued to maintain and improve it since.
Paperwork:
• Original Volvo Service book stamped up to 160, 000 miles
• Receipts from 2016, and extensive receipts from 2021 onwards
• Original Volvo manual and glovebox folder
• 2 keys
Recommission work:
Head gasket, timing belt, thermostat, heater matrix, full service including all 3 auxiliary belts, all fluids drained and changed, oil filter, air filter etc, gearbox and diff oil changed, new battery, new HT leads, plugs, distributor cap and rotor arm, front "spaceship" bushes, and rear lights amongst many other small jobs with particular attention paid to the engine.
Work since 2022 under my ownership:
• New tyres all round
• New front discs and pads
• New middle and rear exhaust sections
• Recent oil and filter change (3 oil changes with OEM Volvo filter)
• 3 auxiliary belts replaced
• Steering pump brackets replaced
• Headlining replaced
• Front bumper replaced
• Left headlamp lens, headlamp wipers and arresters replaced
• Passenger indicator/ sidelight lens replaced
• Washer level sender, filter and washer nozzles replaced
• Driver's door handle replaced
• Original tape player reconditioned and refitted
• Tailgate interior light, grab handle blanking plate, hazard switch cover and seat bolt cover replaced
• Front wheel tracking – laser alignment
Known issues:
All electric windows work except for 1 rear window. The air con is untested and likely needs a regas. There's some minor lacquer peel and a small scuff on the rear bumper corners (pictured). Bubbling to paint near wing mirror (pictured). 1 very small hole in back seat (pictured). Central locking fob untested (needs new battery.) The car is priced with these in mind.

For sale is my much-loved 1998 Volvo 940 estate in Nordic Blue Metallic, 2. 3 low pressure turbo, petrol, manual transmission car. It has covered just over 200, 000 miles, which is barely run-in for one of these, and comes with a history file most cars of this age can only dream of. It's been cherished over the years and been given a new lease of life by myself and the former keeper. I'll even throw in the 1997 Christmas B&Q brochure I found under the carpet in the boot!
