The Appeal
Hailed as ‘France’s finest car,’ Delage didn’t cut corners when it came to making automobiles. But in 1921 they did make a small concession to those with less deep pockets: the Type DE. Equipped with a smaller 2.1 litre side valve engine, these cars proved popular. They even competed at Le Mans.
Just 3,600 Type DEs were built - high volumes by Delage standards but still very rare today. This 1923 example will be one of the last built as production switched to the OHV Type DI in August of that year. Depending on your perspective, it is either an evocative work of art or a blank canvas for restoration.
Whichever route you choose, this car is largely complete. We are told the engine is original and turns over well. The bodywork is all there and so is most of the interior, including the roof mechanism.
For the right enthusiast, with a vision for these wonderful, rare cars this is a very compelling project.

Vendor states:
“We have our own driver who can deliver the car within the EU. The price for delivery is €1 per KM, departing from Beroun, Czechia. If the buyer isn't in a hurry for delivery, we often have a driver going with an empty trailer to pick up a car somewhere in Europe, which could potentially reduce the delivery cost.”
