The appeal
The pre-war French automotive landscape was full of small companies run by ingenious engineers producing fascinating cars.
Lucien Rosengart was one of them. He spotted a niche in the market for a small, inexpensive car. As well as building Austin Seven cars under licence, he developed his own cars, including the LR4, which was larger and wider than the Seven.
Very little is known about his cars, but this example is particularly attractive and rare. We are told that it is a 1935 LR130 Huivit cabriolet and that it was built as a one-off prototype for Rosengart's wife. The vendor has historical documents, title deeds and a newspaper article verifying this.
Restored to a high standard between 2018 and 2019 by the vendor, a well-known French collector of vintage vehicles, it is in superb condition. Inter-war classics hardly get more unusual, interesting or rare than this, and it is a rare treat for enthusiasts.
