The Attractions

While Fiat's Nuova 500 is often cited as the car that introduced the masses to four-wheeled transport in pre-war Italy, the same could have been said of the 508 Balilla, the result of a similar design to the contemporary German 'Volkswagen'. In 1937, the 'Nuova Balilla' was launched, boasting aerodynamic styling and a completely new 1,089 cc overhead-valve engine. Some 57,000 examples were made during its three-year production period, including this one from 1938.

This example has ASI 'Targa Oro' homologation, making it a particularly attractive proposition for enthusiasts and collectors. In addition, we have been informed that it is also eligible for the Mille Miglia and has proved its worth in several regularity races since it was thoroughly restored around ten years ago. The seller tells us that this Fiat has covered just 5,000 kilometres since the engine rebuild and has just undergone extensive maintenance, making it ready to go.
