The Citroën Traction Avant is one of the most striking automobiles in automotive history. Launched in 1934, it was a true pioneer thanks to its monocoque construction, front-wheel drive and independent front suspension—an advanced technical combination for a car produced at scale, one that would leave a lasting impact on the motor industry.
The 11CV version, fitted with the “Perfo” 1.9-litre engine, remains particularly sought after. It’s appreciated for the flexibility of its engine, its excellent road manners and its instantly recognisable silhouette, which has become one of the icons of French motoring.
This 1953 example shows 49,044 km on the odometer and is being sold due to the relocation of its current owner. The grey fabric interior shows signs of wear around the dashboard and seats, while the bodywork has a few visible traces of corrosion. The seller states that the car is in running/driving condition, making it a great opportunity to acquire one of the most emblematic models in motoring history. image.png1.49 MB
This sale is subject to Car & Classic’s general terms and conditions. By bidding and/or making an offer, you also agree to the following:
✓ The seller is registered as a private seller, meaning that consumer rights arising from European consumer protection legislation do not apply. However, you are still covered by Car & Classic’s general terms and conditions.
✓ We require that non-refundable fees be paid if you are the successful bidder at auction or if your offer is accepted. Please refer to our FAQs and general terms and conditions for the specific rates.
✓ This vehicle is “sold as seen”, on a “as it is, where it is” basis and without any warranty. The photos and descriptions are provided for guidance only and it is customary to carry out a full vehicle inspection before purchase for your own peace of mind.
✓ VAT is included in the buyer’s deposit. VAT may or may not be included in the final price of your offer or bid, as specified in the listing.
✓ We want the transaction to go smoothly, just as you do—so vehicles and motorcycles registered in the UK and listed on Car & Classic are subject to an HPI check to verify that they show no basic insurance database markers for damage or theft, and that they are not subject to a financial charge, allowing you to bid with confidence.
✓ We also check whether vehicles are recorded as written off as part of a total loss claim at the time the listing is placed on Car & Classic and we provide category labels for write-off (Cat C/D/S/N) to help you. However, the presence or absence of a label does not guarantee the vehicle’s status, and it’s always helpful to carry out a full vehicle history check before making an offer.
✓ Buyers are responsible for removing or delivering the vehicle. Importing vehicles can incur additional customs duties and import taxes. If you’d like, we can recommend a third-party transport company that can help. For more details and to speak to the team, email auctions@carandclassic.com.
