The Appeal
British sports cars were all the rage in the wake of World War II and Standard Triumph's Sir John Black was desperate to get in on the action. Black sought a ready-made solution, attempting to acquire Morgan, but he failed to do so, leaving Triumph to develop a sports car of their own which would replace the ageing 'Roadster'.
Developed in conjunction with BRM's Ken Richardson, the svelte TR2 entered production in 1953 and was powered by a twin-carb Vanguard four-cylinder engine and contemporary road tests returned a very respectable top speed of 107.3 mph.
This 1955 example is a rare find as just 8,636 TR2s were made, of which only 433 are believed to be licensed in the UK. Our car was owned by the vendor's father for over twenty years. Its blue exterior and grey interior present well, and the car's overall condition appears in smart condition for its age, with only a few age-related blemishes. Its mechnaical condition is reported to be very good, with the car performing well on long road trips in Continental Europe.

Auctions are extended by 3 minutes if anyone bids within the last 2 minutes to allow other bidders to react and counter-bid.
Auto-bidding increments
- If your maximum bid is equal to or below the reserve price, your maximum bid will be applied in full if you are the highest bidder.
- If you are the highest bidder and place a maximum bid above the reserve, we will automatically put in the reserve as your first bid.

Pre-authorisation
We may hold a pre-authorisation charge on your card until the end of the auction when the hold will be cancelled. If you win, we'll take a security deposit which counts towards the payment for the vehicle and isn't any extra cost to you.
