1958 BSA DBD34 ‘Gold Star’

Highlights

  • Matching numbers
  • Highly original and in very good condition
  • Accompanied by a substantial history file
  • Exceedingly desirable DBD34 variant in Clubman trim which BSA introduced in 1956

The Appeal

While several leading manufacturers had successfully developed powerful multi-cylinder engines during the 1950s, BSA was staunchly committed to big singles powering their high-performance machines. BSA believed a simple pushrod unit with a large displacement would be a better option and the introduction of the Gold Star proved its engineers were right. Boast 110 mph in 500 cc form, the Gold Star dominated the TT, was one of the top choices for the ‘Ton Up Boys’ of the late ‘50s and still boasts a legendary status amongst motorcyclists today.
We’re delighted to present one of the most desirable Gold Stars of them all, a 1958 DBD34 with matching numbers and in Clubman trim. It’s in highly original condition, with a nice patina and the vendor reports that it runs very well indeed. For discerning classic bike collectors, a ‘50s ‘Goldie’ is simply a must-have and this would be a great candidate to add to your shed,
