The appeal
The Citroën 2CV is one of the most iconic cars ever built, and not by chance. Thanks to its remarkably practical nature and its innovative suspension offering generous wheel travel, it served the needs of small businesses and rural users just as well as those of generations of drivers for whom it was a first car.
This 1961 example has had only one previous owner registered on the V5C before the current seller. It has therefore remained in the same family for most of its life. Always stored in a dry garage, it retains its original paint, whose patina charmingly reflects its 65 years. The floorpans are also believed to be original, aside from one small repaired section.
The interior has been redone and the seller describes it as being in near-new condition. A new hood, new wheels and new bumpers have also been fitted. Mechanically, the ignition system and fuel system have been completely replaced, while a full service was recently carried out.
The seller states the car drives beautifully. Registered with a standard V5C and accompanied by its original warranty booklet, this 2CV AZ represents a fine opportunity to acquire a well-documented, largely original example of the popular French "people's car".

✓ The seller is registered as a private seller, meaning consumer rights arising from European consumer protection legislation do not apply. However, you are still covered by Car & Classic's terms and conditions.
✓ We require that non-refundable fees be paid if you are the successful bidder or if your offer is accepted. Please refer to our FAQs and terms and conditions for the specific rates.
✓ This vehicle is "sold as seen", on a "as is, where is" basis and without warranty. Photos and descriptions are provided for guidance only, and it is customary to carry out a full inspection of the vehicle before purchase for your own peace of mind.
✓ VAT is included in the buyer's deposit. VAT may or may not be included in the final price of the offer or bid, as specified in the listing.
✓ We want the transaction to go smoothly, just as you do, which is why cars and motorcycles registered in the UK and listed on Car & Classic are subject to an HPI check to verify that they carry no insurance database markers for damage or theft and are not subject to outstanding finance, allowing you to bid with confidence.
✓ We also check whether vehicles are recorded as written off following a total loss at the time the listing is placed on Car & Classic and we provide write-off category labels (Cat C/D/S/N) to help you. However, the presence or absence of a label does not guarantee the vehicle's status, and it is always worthwhile carrying out a full vehicle history check before making an offer on it.
✓ Buyers are responsible for collecting or arranging delivery of the vehicle. Importing vehicles may incur additional customs duties and import taxes. If you wish, we can recommend a third-party transport company that can help. For more details and to speak to the team, email auctions@carandclassic.com.
