The Appeal
When it’s done well, a modded classic Mini can be about as much fun as you can have on four wheels. With access to a vast array of specialist parts, it’s possible to bespoke any Mini to precise requirements.
That’s exactly what has happened here. Starting with a stock 1961 Mini, in 2020, a previous keeper painstakingly created a superb homage to the classic Coopers and subsequent generations of upgraded models of Issigonis’ city car. Painted Speedwell Blue with white roof, it is a really pretty car that incorporates a lot of classic features, like the grey bucket seats and white steel, that focus on tasteful rather than flashy.
Beneath the tiny bonnet is a 1,275cc engine. Stopping power includes Cooper S discs and pads at the front. The suspension system has been carefully replaced and upgraded to suit the increased power.
The restoration may have been completed a few years ago, but the car has not been road used since. The result is a car that is in really good condition and promises to be a hoot to drive.
