• Original condition British classic
• Original wire wheels
• 1800cc engine

THE APPEAL

We all love a British classic, and they don't come more of an iconic car as the MG B Roadster.

With an excellent following and an extensive amount of parts available, there aren’t many things that can not be sourced or manufactured for this classic Roadster, making it the ideal car for anyone wanting to take on a light restoration.

This Roadster has been with the seller for approximately two years and the idea at the time was to give the already running original MG a cosmetic refresh to bring it back to its former glory.

THE HISTORY AND PAPERWORK

• V5 is present
• Registered on 20th October 1967
• Excellent selection of previous MOT certificates
• Previous invoices for work carried out
The MG has a nice selection of paperwork from the mid-2000s for work carried out and parts fitted.

Since then, it looks to have been used up until 2014/2015 before being left untouched.

THE INTERIOR

• Original interior
• 42,656 miles
• Working order

Inside, the MG is in original condition throughout.

There is some wear to the seats, as you can see, but with that said, sourcing replacement seat coverings is quite an easy task, and if it’s not something you would tackle yourself, there are always several vehicle upholsterers and specialists willing to tackle this job.

The door cards are finished in the same material and are in good order with no rips or tears.

Sitting in the driver’s seat, you are faced with the original steering wheel, which has some patina as you would expect for the age of the vehicle. However, the dashboard is in good order, with no splits or cracks to mention.

The instruments are reported to be in working order, with the odometer showing a reading of 42,656 miles.

The carpets do have some wear to them, but as with the seats, new carpets can be easily ordered from several specialists.

Inside the boot, the spare wheel is present complete with the copper hammer for the knock offs, and there is also a double duck tonneau cover which is in good condition.

THE EXTERIOR

• Original wire wheels
• Roof is in good order
• Bright chrome work
The MG looks to have been repainted many years ago and is now ready for a refresh.

Looking around the car, it generally looks to be in solid condition, with no apparent areas of significant corrosion. This is only a visual inspection.
The chrome work looks to be in good order from the front of the car, with no excessive tarnishing to the bumper, grille, or headlight surrounds. The headlights have been kept free from any chips thanks to the headlight protectors, and the original grille is nice and straight, with no damage to the bars.
Around to the sides, the doors look to align as they should, with just some minor blistering towards the bottom corners. The window surrounds have some light age-related tarnishing, and the same with the glass, which has some fine scratches in keeping with the age of the vehicle.
The roof has no damage and fits as it should. There is some slight discolouration to the plastic windows, but they are free from any splits.
The chrome bumper is in good condition to the rear of the MG, as are the light lenses. The boot lid aligns as it should and opens and closes nicely. Probably the best choice for any MG are wire wheels, and these look to be the originals.

They look to be in good condition, with no corrosion to the spokes, and the knockoffs are also in good condition.

The tyres do have good tread remaining, but there is some age-related perishing.

THE MECHANICS

• 1800cc 4-Cylinder
• Runs as it should
• New spark plugs
Standard fit for the MG is the reliable 1800cc engine, which looks to have been well maintained and used regularly for most of its earlier life.

The car starts up as it should with no untoward noises coming from the engine bay. The seller reports that the car drives as it should, with no issues reported moving through the 4-speed gearbox.

He says that the MG comes to a halt as it should, with no juddering through the pedal and without pulling to the left or right.
Looking at the vehicle's underside doesn't show any areas for concern. There is some surface corrosion to the suspension components.

SUMMARY

A nice opportunity for those who don’t mind a bit of spanner work and want to step into a British 2-seater icon.

Mechanically running, the car was purchased in need of some interior and cosmetic work.

Unfortunately, with the seller not having the time to continue with the task in hand, this is your chance to take over the reins of this 1967 MG B Roadster.

About Max Bids

The max bid process allows you to bid without any hassle.

Enter your maximum bid and we will then bid on your behalf to ensure you're the highest bidder - just enough to keep you in the lead and only up until your maximum.

Anti-sniping

Car & Classic prevent auction snipers from bidding in the last seconds to win an auction.

Auctions are extended by 3 minutes if anyone bids within the last 2 minutes to allow other bidders to react and counter-bid.

Auto-bidding increments

  • If your maximum bid is equal to or below the reserve price, your maximum bid will be applied in full if you are the highest bidder.
  • If you are the highest bidder and place a maximum bid above the reserve, we will automatically put in the reserve as your first bid.
    • Once the reserve has been met, Car & Classic will make sure you are the highest bidder using only the bidding increments stated below.
    • We will keep you in the lead up until your maximum bid OR the increment closest to your maximum bid, providing your maximum bid is enough to cover the increment value.

Bid Amount Increment
£0 to £9,999 £100.00
£10,000 to £49,999 £250.00
£50,000 to £99,999 £500.00
£100,000 + £1,000.00

Automatically outbid immediately

When you place a max bid and are outbid immediately that means that another bidder has placed a max bid limit which is higher than yours.

You can bid again and we will use our automatic bid system to try and get you as the highest bidder.

Matching max bids

When there are two max bids of the same value, the one placed first remains the lead bidder.

Pre-authorisation

We may hold a pre-authorisation charge on your card until the end of the auction when the hold will be cancelled. If you win, we'll take a security deposit which counts towards the payment for the vehicle and isn't any extra cost to you.

What are pre-bids?

A pre-bid means you're able to place a bid before the official start of the auction.
You will be notified whether or not you are the highest bidder when the auction starts.

Problem with your bid

Bids are contractually binding. To help protect you, we have some rules in place if we think it's been mistyped. Please check and amend what you have entered.
