The Appeal
The Opel Kadett B Rallye was the brainchild of Swedish racing legend Ragnar 'Ragge' Eklund. He spotted the potential of the firm’s new 1900S engine to create a stylish, light and nimble powerhouse.
Opel picked up the idea and put it in showrooms, alongside a raft of optional extras to enable buyers to personalise their purchases.
These cars were so much fun that most were driven into the ground. This 1969 Rallye wasn’t. Used and enjoyed by its first Swedish keeper to 1994 - who specified the optional Recaro front seats - it was then carefully garaged for 20 years. In 2004 his friend persuaded him to sell it and set about a sympathetic restoration that prioritised originality.
Today the car is both highly original and in very good condition. The extensive history verifies the mileage and includes a guarantee certificate, road maps and original handbooks.
The Kadett Rallye is an entertaining and very rare alternative to a Fast Ford and this one must be amongst the best available.
History and Paperwork
- Registered in 1969 in Sweden

- Purposeful rally style finish such as the quad auxiliary lights
- Steel wheels in good order
- Interior is very original, including the optional Recaro sports seats
- Dashboard features large gauges and extra dials under the centre console
- Wooden three spoke steering wheel and original radio fitted
- Underside presents well with solid general finish
