The Appeal
Still rightfully praised as one of the most beautiful cars ever built, the E-Type continues to be immediately recognisable to even the layman - a sports car that changed the general perception of what a British-built vehicle could be. With its beautiful, slicked back styling and long-nosed silhouette, it's a car that looks fast when standing still - and thanks to the impressive 4.2-litre straight-six, it was capable of putting its money where its mouth was, too.
Series 2 hit the showrooms in 1968 and brought a few subtle changes to the formula. The car now boasted a wrap-around back bumper, the loss of its headlight covers, and brought improvements to help the engine breathe. Couple in the two - admittedly very small - rear seats in the 2+2 and you've got a more versatile car besides.
This example was built in 1970 and originally exported to the USA before being re-imported in 1997, at which point it was converted to right-hand drive, fully recommissioned, and resprayed. A bare metal respray in metallic BRG followed in 2008, and a new interior was fitted in 2010, establishing the fine standard that this handsome car enjoys today.
The inline-six was rebuilt in 2018, and a Jaguar XJ6 gearbox with overdrive was fitted in 2019, complementing the US-spec rear differential to deliver what the vendor describes as great acceleration and road-holding. A number of sympathetic upgrades have been carried out over the years, and the car was checked over by a Jaguar specialist in August 2025. It comes accompanied by a large quantity of spares, the original toolkit, and a detailed history file stretching back nearly three decades.
