The Appeal
The Elan +2 is undoubtably one of the most interesting cars Lotus has ever produced. Representing a break from its typical two-seater sports car design, here was a Lotus built to carry a family of four in comfort. That being said, Lotus didn't compromise its "simplify and add lightness" formula, and the resulting Elan +2 still weighed under 900 kilograms.
The vendor of this 1970 example tells us:
"Since I bought the car, it has seen sparing use (occasionally during the summer months) and has been garage-kept. Prior to purchase, the car received a full nut-and-bolt restoration. In 1987, the car was upgraded with bigger valve heads like the later models, and in 1990, Alfa Engineering rebuilt the car's competition engine.

"This car is also famous, having featured on Car S.O.S. as the cutaway car. This vehicle was also the feature car on Season 6! All of this information as well as all of the works carried out on the vehicle is documented in a blue folder included with the vehicle.
This Lotus is in great condition and boasts a brand new set of Michelin Energy Saver tyres on both axles."
