The Appeal
By the start of the 1970s, the E-Type had outgrown the XK straight-six which had initially propelled it to stardom. In line with the times, Jaguar’s output was evolving from sports cars to grand tourers and fittingly, a new 5.3-litre V12 became the firm’s flagship powerplant.
A supremely capable GT, the oft-overlooked Series III E-Type deserves more attention and we’re delighted to offer this superb 1973 example with just 30,958 miles on the odometer. UK-supplied in right-hand drive, this OTS was sold to a friend of the first owner after a few years and their family kept it until 2023!
During that long custodianship, the car spent time in Australia, before returning to the UK in 2016. It’s previously been subject to restoration work and in 2023, underwent further renovation with fresh paintwork, interior refurbishment and a new mohair hood. Under the bonnet, all has been kept in fine fettle, with a history of regular maintenance and a recent service carried out in readiness for sale.
For those seeking a storied E-Type that’s in fantastic condition, this low mileage, low owner example is as good as they come.

Anti-sniping
Car & Classic prevent auction snipers from bidding in the last seconds to win an auction.
Auctions are extended by 3 minutes if anyone bids within the last 2 minutes to allow other bidders to react and counter-bid.

If your maximum bid is equal to or below the reserve price, your maximum bid will be applied in full if you are the highest bidder.
If you are the highest bidder and place a maximum bid above the reserve, we will automatically put in the reserve as your first bid.
Once the reserve has been met, Car & Classic will make sure you are the highest bidder using only the bidding increments stated below.
